Hera signs debut American crime thriller author, Charly Cox, for an Albuquerque-set detective series

May 15, 2019

Hera are delighted to announce the acquisition of a dark, gripping detective series from debut American author, Charly Cox. World rights for a three-book series were acquired directly from the author, after Publishing Director Keshini Naidoo spotted Charly’s pitch during the Insecure Writers’ Support Group #PitMad event on Twitter. Charly’s debut novel introduces her series character, Albuquerque P.D Detective Alyssa Wyatt, when her investigation into the disappearance of a young woman throws her into the path of a twisted psychopath with links to Alyssa’s own past… The first book in the series will be published by Hera in October 2019.

Keshini Naidoo, Publishing Director at Hera, said of the acquisition:

‘As soon as I read Charly’s pitch during the #PitMad event, I was hooked – and when the book was submitted, I instantly fell in love with Alyssa Wyatt. Strong, resourceful, committed to her family as well as her career as a detective, Alyssa is a relatable series heroine and I can’t wait for readers to start discovering her. And readers be warned; this debut crime thriller novel features a seriously warped killer - in fact, while reading this, we made sure all our doors were locked… I couldn’t be happier that Charly will be joining the Hera list and look forward to releasing her debut novel in autumn 2019.

Charly Cox commented on the deal:

‘For me, everything about Hera screams success. From the moment Keshini first contacted me about the Alyssa Wyatt series, she’s been positive, encouraging, upbeat, candid, and supportive—absolutely all the things a writer like me dreams of. To say I’m beyond excited to be a part of the Hera Books team of authors is a vast understatement. I’m looking forward to taking this journey with Keshini and Lindsey.’
