Hera are delighted to announce that they have signed two books from commercial fiction novelist, Gordon MacMillan. Gordon’s uplifting, moving book, Songs for Your Mother, the story of a man who comes face to face with the child he never knew existed, will be released in Summer 2021, with the follow up due in winter 2021. World rights were agreed directly with the author.
Gordon is a former journalist, who was the founding editor of the Brand Republic website. He now works for Twitter as part of the UK marketing team. He has previously blogged about politics and dating, which have provided inspiration for his writing. He lives in North London.
Keshini Naidoo, Publishing Director at Hera, said of the deal:
‘Reading Gordon’s debut novel left me with ALL the feels. The story of Johnny, who is drifting through life until adorable five-year-old Luke turns up on his doorstep and instantly plunges him into parenthood, made me laugh at the relatable challenges of parenthood and weep at the beautiful bonds that grow between this boy and his father. Funny, emotional and completely captivating, I’m absolutely thrilled that Hera will be publishing Songs for your Mother in 2021 and can’t wait for readers to discover this formidable new talent!’
Gordon MacMillan commented:
‘I’m really excited to be joining Hera Books, and to get to work with Keshini whose enthusiasm and connection with Songs for your Mother is what every writer hopes for.’
