Publishing Director of Hera, Keshini Naidoo, has acquired rights to reissue the Charles Maddox historical detective series by Lynn Shepherd.
The first two books in the series, The Mansfield Park Murder and The Man in Black, follow amateur detective Charles Maddox as he investigates crimes befalling the characters within literary classics, Mansfield Park and Bleak House, plunging them into reimagined scenes and gripping storylines.
Both books will be published in Summer 2022 in simultaneous ebook and paperback editions, with books three and four in the series following in Autumn 2022.
Keshini Naidoo, Publishing Director at Hera says: ‘The classics remain a source of delight for so many readers, and the Charles Maddox series looks at these much-discussed texts with a fresh and entertaining new perspective. Fans of Dickens and Austen will be thrilled to see Charles investigate crimes involving the characters we know so well, while fans of historical crime will discover a new detective hero! We are so proud to be reissuing these books, and look forward to introducing new readers to this idiosyncratic, utterly compelling detective series.’
Lynn Shepherd says: ‘I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that the Maddox books are being published again, and I had great fun coming up with new titles to refresh the series for a whole new audience. Hera are the perfect home for Maddox, and I just love what they’ve done with the cover designs.’
The Mansfield Park Murder and The Man in Black will be published in June 2022, in simultaneous ebook and paperback. For more information, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
