Hera signs uplifting, romantic modern Regency series by Ally Sinclair

October 24, 2022

The first book in the series, A Season for Love, sees dating agency maven Emma Love, who, when faced with a world of meaningless hook-ups and swiping right, decides that what the modern dating scene needs is a dose of old-fashioned courtship. She sets up a series of events for singles, based on the Regency Season, in which people come together, make genuine connections and by the end of the summer, will hopefully have met a soulmate. Three very different friends – Lydia, Jane and Annie – sign up for the Season and find love… but not always in the way they were expecting…

A Season for Love transports the mores of Austen and Bridgerton to the contemporary world, to create a romantic, funny and thoroughly charming take on 21st dating.

Ally Sinclair is the pseudonym of Alison May, author of All That Was Lost, and former Chair of the Romantic Novelists’ Association.

Keshini Naidoo says: ‘A Season for Love hooked me from the very first chapter. I absolutely adored the characters; they are complex, relatable and their struggles at finding real connection in a digital world is something that will strike a chord with many readers. Fans of Regency books and TV will be thoroughly diverted in seeing how a Season would play out in the 21st century – perhaps even inspiring a return to old-fashioned romance! – while readers of modern romcoms will discover a joyful, utterly heart-warming read. I am absolutely delighted that Ally Sinclair is joining the Hera stable of authors and can’t wait to cordially invite readers to the Season in early 2023.’

Ally Sinclair says: ‘I’m delighted to have signed with Hera. They’re a publisher I’ve admired, for both their commercial instincts and their genuine commitment to inclusivity, since their inception and I’m so excited to be working with Keshini on A Season for Love. I wrote the first draft of this book during the winter lockdown in 2021 and writing it was a little oasis of happiness in a bleak and dreary period. I cannot wait to share that joy with readers when they meet Emma and her cohort of hopeful daters.’

Julia Silk added: ‘Al is a fantastic storyteller with a special talent for creating engaging and diverse characters who pull you into their lives from the first page. I’m delighted that Keshini and the team at Hera also loved the idea of going back to a simpler time to find romance, and excited for readers to fall in love with Emma and her friends.’

A Season for Love will be published in January 2023, in mass-market paperback and ebook, with the next book in the series to follow in August 2023. For more information, please contact publicity@canelo.co
