Hera acquire heartbreaking, emotional new Welsh saga series by Francesca Capaldi
Hera are thrilled to round off 2019 by welcoming debut saga novelist, Francesca Capaldi, to the list. World rights for two books were acquired directly from the author by Publishing Director, Keshini Naidoo. Francesca’s saga series is set in a coal mining village in the valleys of South Wales during the darkest times of WW1 and the first book in the series will be published in Spring 2020. Francesca is a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association and graduated from their New Writers’ Scheme in 2018.
Keshini Naidoo, Publishing Director at Hera, commented:
‘Set during the horrors of World War 1, Francesca’s beautiful novels offer us a tale of optimism and enduring courage, even during poverty and hardship. Anwen and Idris’ love story captivated me from the start and the mining community in which they live is so wonderfully drawn, pulling me completely into their world. There is hope shining out from every page. I’m delighted that Francesca is joining us at Hera and we are so excited to be launching this new saga series in 2020.’
Francesca Capaldi said of the deal:
‘After I met Keshini at the Romantic Novelists' Association Conference back in the summer, I knew Hera would be a great publisher to work with so was really excited when she and Lindsey took me on. The theme and setting of my saga novels mean a lot to me and I'm totally thrilled they're going to be published.’
