Hera set to publish mass market paperbacks of the million-copy bestselling Dorset Crime series by ebook phenomenon, Rachel McLean
January 04, 2024
Hera are thrilled to announce that they will be publishing the bestselling nine-book Dorset Crime series by Rachel McLean in mass market paperback for the first time. World English print rights, excluding North America, were agreed directly with the author by Hera Publishing Director, Keshini Naidoo.
The nine books in the series will be published over 18 months with the first three books – The Corfe Castle Murders, The Clifftop Murders and The Island Murders – to be published in April 2024, with books 4-6 following in September 2024. In 2021, The Corfe Castle Murders won the Kindle Storyteller Award and her last five books have all hit No1 in the Bookstat ebook chart on launch.
Keshini Naidoo said of the deal: I’ve long been an admirer of Rachel’s writing. Anyone with even a passing interest in UK crime fiction will have witnessed the meteoric rise of her Dorset Crime novels and it’s clear that Rachel has an army of loyal readers in the ebook market. With these new mass market paperbacks, with striking new packaging and branding, we plan to introduce her to a new audience who will without doubt embrace no-nonsense DCI Lesley Clarke as eagerly as the existing fans of her ebooks. We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming Rachel and her Dorset Crime Series to Hera.’
Rachel says: ‘As an indie author, reaching readers of paperback books is something I’ve always found challenging, so this opportunity to work with the team at Hera couldn’t come at a better time. I’m delighted with the response my Dorset Crime books have found with ebook readers, so I’m looking forward to reaching a wider audience and gaining more fans for DCI Lesley Clarke and her team. Keshini has a great track record working with other crime writers and I’m very excited to be working with her.’
The Corfe Castle Murders, The Clifftop Murders and The Island Murders will all be published in mass-market paperback in April 2024, with The Monument Murders, The Millionaire Murders and The Fossil Beach Murders following in September 2024.
