Hera acquires two hilarious contemporary romcoms from Jennifer Joyce

March 14, 2024

Hera Publisher, Keshini Naidoo, has acquired World rights to two standalone romcoms directly with the author, in a two-book deal.

The first book, The Grown-Up To Do List features 27-year-old Cleo, who is pretty happy with her life in the northern seaside town where she grew up and working in her job at the fish and chip shop. But she is worried she is being left behind – all her school friends have left and seem to have impressive careers and side-hustles, while she is still living at home with Mum and Dad. Learning that her childhood crush will be coming back to town in three months gives Cleo the resolve to become a grown up and dazzle him. But who knows what it really means to be a grown-up? And can she do it in three months?

The Grown-Up To Do List will be published in Paperback Original and ebook in summer 2024 with the second book following in spring 2025.

Keshini Naidoo says: ‘This warm, funny romcom felt really fresh and zeitgeisty to me. I adored it from the very first page. There seems to be a real move away from hustle culture towards self-acceptance and I feel sure many readers will relate with Cleo and her story. It has a gorgeously warm message and is properly funny and uplifting. We’ve long been admirers of Jennifer’s romcoms and we are thrilled to be working with her on The Grown-Up To Do List.’

Jennifer Joyce says: ‘I’ve been delighted by the enthusiasm The Grown-Up To Do List has received from Hera. I’m excited to be working with the team and can’t wait to introduce readers to Cleo Parker. It has been such a joy getting to know Cleo and I hope readers fall in love with her as much as I have.’
